For filmmakers and photographers who want the look and feel only possible with extreme wide angle and fisheye photography, the Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM is a world-class choice. It delivers 180° diagonal angle of view images for all EOS SLR cameras with imaging formats ranging from full-frame to APS-C, and provides 180° circular fisheye images for full-frame EOS models.
There's loads of distortion as you would expect from a fisheye lens. But let that be a part of your creative process. With some experience, you'll find tons of subjects that just look cool using this lens.
Be careful when taking the lens cap off this lens. It attaches to the lens hood, which must be removed if you want the full circular image on your full-frame camera. This leaves the front element, which protrudes outward from the lens body, exposed and it can be very easily scratched. Please experiment with it before you head out in the field so you're familiar with it's construction and how it works. Your shooting experience will be much easier for it. So, with a 180° angle of view from full-frame coverage to full circular image, what more could you ask for in your frame? It gets everything, even your toes if you're not careful.

WOW! This lens is both awesome and weird at the same time. Having 180° view is just a very different view on the world. When you're zoomed out to 15mm, it's 180° from corner to corner. When you zoom out to 8mm, it's 180° all the way around with a full-circular image in the frame. I got a shot while lying on the ground in the middle of a TeePee what was being put up. It was just the poles though. I got a few test/establishing shots and then reviewed them on the LCD screen. They looked fine, but then I noticed something. My toes were in the frame. I had to spread my legs and feet out a bit to get them flat enough so as to not be seen in the frame. It's truly a unique experience to shoot with this lens.
