The EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM, incorporates the newest in Canon lens technology for spectacular sharpness and impressive performance at all settings. It features two high-precision, large-diameter aspherical lenses for sharpness across the sensor, even in peripheral areas of full-frame sensors (stop down a bit, about f/4.0, to really dial in sharp edges on a full-frame camera, and f/5.6 to seal the deal).
The curve shaped aperture blades help to make the out of focus bokeh to look its best. The speed of the AF is quite good, but it is a wide angle after all, after 10 or 11 feet everything is in focus anyway.

While on assignment in the Dominican Republic I used this lens to capture great images during late night events. It pulls in so much light I just didn't have to worry about how few light sources there were (about 6 total light bulbs for several hundred square feet of covered outdoor meeting space). And when the videographer could not render anything on his very nice broadcast-quality camera, he ended up borrowing my Canon 6D with this lens to shoot full HD video of the events. This lens/camera combination delivers when other systems fail. Of course, the 5D MkIII would perform equally as well in this situation.
